Tokyo Dive
We are taking the theme of the Tokyo Biennale 2020 literally and going to dive into Tokyo, engage with people & places and capture our experience with our Hypergraphy project Tokyo Dive 2020.
Our performative multichannel hypermedia-project builds on upon a similar project that we had produced during a two months residency in Tokyo in the years 2010 and 2012.
Tokyo Dive 2020 will give viewers a fast paced experience of contemporary life in Tokyo. During the residency the team will dive deep into the city in order to capture life, a flow of events and human encounters with our cameras and recording devices. Subjects are public places & events, leisure, non-personal documentations of daily life.
The exhibit has neither a beginning nor predictable duration. The system continuously creates an audiovisual and non-reproducible stream of images that can run endlessly and which reacts instantly when input parameters and audio sources are changed.
The work raises questions about the social present and future, about personal and collective memory, about the order, control, observation and surveillance, and the Human Condition. The project is executed by the team in four phases: 1. Collection 2. Computation 3. Presentation 4. Preservation Both the software and the imagery are created & taken by the artists.
