Tokyo Dive 2010-2012
Performative multichannel Hypergraphy project Recaptured memories of people & places during our visits in Japan.
Tokyo Dive gives viewers a fast paced experience of contemporary life in Tokyo. We deep-dived into the city in order to capture life, a flow of events and human encounters with our cameras and recording devices. Subjects are public places & events, leisure, non-personal documentations of daily life.
The exhibit has neither a beginning nor predictable duration. The system continuously creates an audiovisual and non-reproducible stream of images that can run endlessly and which reacts instantly when input parameters and audio sources are changed.
The work raises questions about the social present and future, about personal and collective memory, about the order, control, observation and surveillance, and the Human Condition. The project is executed by the team in four phases:
- Collection
- Computation
- Presentation
- Preservation
Both the software and the imagery are created & taken by the artists.
