Stefan studied communication design, photography and audio-visual media at the University of Essen/Folkwang. His artistic work covers a variety of different fields and techniques; photography, videography, audio-visual performance, software and interfaces for controlling digital media in real time. For his interactive works he won the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany twice and several Red Dot Awards.
At the dawn of the 21st century, Stefan began building audio-visual software, services and companies. Starting in 1999 he founded V2A*NETFORCE*RUHR and VLIGHT.TO with friends, he has gained over 20 years of experience as a creator of interactive media on the world wide web.
Between 2005 and 2008 Stefan was working with SPIEGEL Online and build the first user generated online projects for a german mainstream media. Commissioned by Trendbüro, Stefan Landrock created DesignKlicks in 2005 and conceived & sold the concept of a collective history portal to SPIEGEL Online, which launched on einestages.de in 2007.
In 2011, Stefan started the long-term project Eternal Light, which deals with an exuberant collection of photographs and digital artifacts. With EL1 he had a software developed that continuously generates an audiovisual and non-reproducible stream of images. As a media installation, his work raises questions about the social present and future, personal and collective memory, orders, observations, control, surveillance and the human condition in equal measure.
Since 2012, Stefan Landrock has been the founder and managing director of Salonio UG, the company that develops the Website-toolbox Salon.io, which allows artists and photographers to present their work in a new and easy way. 10 years later Stefan Landrock is about to transform Salon.io into Meta.Salon, the first permanent art & design platform on the Metanet.
In the year 2014, he became self-appointed ambassador of the Museum of Media History in Berlin, an organisation that conducts research and provides education on the history and future of media.
Over the last 20 years Stefan has enjoyed sharing knowledge and inspiration with students while lecturing interactive media at different art & design schools, such as University of Wuppertal, HfG Offenbach and FH Bielefeld (among others).
Mostly recently, Stefan founded B2029 in Berlin together with other Bitcoin SV enthusiasts who are committed to help people understand Bitcoin and to build its ecosystem in Germany.
Currently, Stefan focuses on the transformation of Salon.io from a creative publishing tool into Meta.Salon, the first permanent art & design platform on the Metanet.
